New Developments

Update #1 - Okay, so for all of you who didn't already know, the New Yorker is returning to New York.  No more traveling back and forth between New York and Florida.  While I will probably miss the peacefulness of the slower paced lifestyle - I was handed an opportunity I just couldn't say no to.

Update #2 - For those who remember, I mentioned some time ago about working on a book, well it is 95% done and is currently going through editing and review.  I am also deciding if I want/need/require a few more looks in the book, but all-in-all, I'm expecting it to be published and on the retail shelves by early 2011.

Update #3 - As for my New York City venture - Makeup In Action Studio (MIA) is a makeup studio that I will be launching in NYC the beginning of 2011.  I will offer makeup services as well as host makeup workshops and charm parties.  While I can't explain all the wonder of this upcoming studio  - do know it will be pretty, very exciting, very helpful and pink...very pink LOL.

Goodbye Spring/Summer Fashion Montage

So, I was packing away my Spring and Summer fashions and I decided to give them all one last wear in case I don't don them again next year.  Here is my Spring/Summer Fashion Montage of some of my favorite outfits this past season. Do note that summer is not yet over and if you live in a warmer climate and you like these looks you can still wear these trends if you so choose.

FAVORITE SWIMSUIT:

Yes, I buy a new one every year but this year my favorite swimsuit happened to be one I purchased 2 years ago from Victoria's Secret.  It is the Carmen Marc Valvo Halter One-Piece Monokini Priced at $145 Paired with my Dolce & Gabbana Shades Priced at $380. (Now that summer is nearing it's end Victoria's Secret has this swimsuit on sale for like $110, so if you like it grab it now because I wish it was that price when it came out two years ago.)

FAVORITE PICNIC OUTFIT:
My favorite brunch, picnic, or Bar B Que outfit was my A-line polka dot dress by Ruby Rox priced at $49.00 which I would pair with my Jessica Simpson Aviator styled sunglasses (which are on my dress instead of my face LOL) priced at $56.00 and my Chinese Laundry red pumps priced at $89 and I'm sorry but below is the only picture I had showing my shoes...I know it doesn't show much of the detailing.

FAVORITE CASUAL OUTFIT:
For casual attire I would pair this Military Shirt Dress from Bebe priced at $129 with my Frederick's of Hollywood Chinese Inspired Wedge Heels that were $46 when I ordered them four years ago, they no longer carry them ;-( and again I chose my Dolce & Gabbana shades

FAVORITE PARTY OUTFIT:
I love this halter corset dress year round but looking at all the club outfits I wore this season, I do think this dress in combo with my makeup and shoes (which aren't pictured) was my favorite look.  The dress is from Bebe and was priced at $149.  The hair and makeup was vintage 50's inspired aside from the rhinestones that covered the right side of my face.

FAVORITE WORK OUTFIT:
I guess it would depend on where you work but for me I have no boss to tell me how to dress so I like this outfit for work attire.  I paired a Bebe shirt priced at $79 with a pair of high waisted corset shorts also from Bebe and also priced at $79

FAVORITE DAY OUTFIT:
I wore this dress to a couple of day outing like street fairs and such.  It is a vintage African print shirt dress that belonged to my mother many years ago.  In the photo I have it paired with a pair of strappy sandals from Wild Pair that I believe were priced at $78 (they are quite old I can't be certain of the exact cost)

FAVORITE NITE ROCKER OUTFIT:
For a night time rocker look I liked my boyfriend plaid shirt from H&M priced at $18 with my studded belt from Arden B priced at $24, my Bebe high waisted shorts priced at $79, and my Zigi Soho Gucci inspired Gladiator Sandals priced at anywhere from $60 - $70 (the price sticker was removed from the box and I can't remember the exact cost) Oh yeah and once again I have on my Jessica Simpson Aviator Inspired Shade (This time they are on my face...but there is no sun LOL...what was I thinking?)

Angel's Dirty Lil Secret

Facial Cleansing Power House

I could probably open up a spa with the facial products on the counter of my bathroom. If a sales person shows me something ordinary like a face wash, and tells me it does something extraordinary like combats acne, reverses the signs of aging, evens the skin tone, or protects the skin from free radical break down, I’m sold. I’ll be the first to admit, not all of my investments were money well spent. In fact most of the products on my counter are pretty ordinary and the only thing that was every extraordinary about them was the price. Late 2007 Origins developed this product called Clean Energy...an extraordinary face wash that is playfully priced.

Now let me explain this little wonder in a bottle, when it first hit the shelves in September 2007 it tweaked my curiosity, but I refused to buy. Because it’s an oil face wash I couldn’t imagine spreading it over my already oily skin. I would pass that Origins counter every day, pick up the bottle and read it’s claim to fame “Gentle cleansing oil” “...removes dirt, makeup and pollutants with high efficiency.” “...massage onto dry skin...Add warm water to transform oil to milky lotion.” It sounded good, but it felt and looked like Crisco cooking oil and just the sight of it made my pores clog.

One day I was at the Origins counter testing their eyeshadow pigment on the back of my hand, I needed something that would remove the eyeshadow and it’s residue completely. A little braver that day, I massaged two drops of the Clean Energy onto back of my hand. I watched as the traces of that Midnight Blue eyeshadow seemed to disappear. I squirted a little water on my hand and watched in awe as that cleansing oil did an extraordinary metamorphous into a milk. I wiped the excess away with a tissue and stroked the back of my hand. To my astonishment, there was no oily residue left behind, just clean, supple, soft skin. It was amazing, it had dissolved the makeup and left my skin feeling breathable and soft. It’s rare to fine a product that’ll actually do what it say’s it’ll do. Did I buy it that day? No, that was just the back of my hand and not my oily face.

Again, I returned to Origins, this time in need of their kindness. I was going out to a club that night, and I would be sleeping over at my girlfriends house. Unfortunately for me, I forget my nighttime cleanser at home. Now I know what you’re thinking, why couldn’t I just use a cleanser at my friends house? Well, she uses bar soap, and that is not acceptable. I needed something that would cleanse my skin, remove my makeup, and that could be done quickly because at four in the morning who wants to spend a lot of time washing their face. Because it’s wise to sample before you buy, I took a little sample dram of the Clean Energy.

Everything Clean Energy did to the back of my hand it also did to my face. My pores were not left clogged, it removed my waterproof mascara with great ease, and was even gentle enough that it didn’t irritate or sting my eyes. It was so fabulous that the next morning I went out and purchased it. You only need two pumps to clean your entire face and one bottle can last me a year. The best part of it all is that it’s playfully priced at $18.50 how can you beat that. It’s great for all skin types including sensitive. I encourage you to buy this product, or simply sample it, you’ll see what I mean. It’s genius in a bottle.

Want to know a filthy dirty secret? I use this cleaning oil to cleanse my makeup brushes. It breaks down and dissolved stubborn built-up makeup gunk in seconds. Try it for yourself!
